White Hot Chile

White Hot Chile floresta leyda

Another fantastic Sauvignon Blanc found its way into my glass last week (I know, hard to believe).  And if you’ve been following the blog you know that I’m hot on Chile right now, and Sauvignon Blanc is a wine that they seem to have figured out down there.

The 2007 Santa Rita “Floresta” Sauvignon Blanc is from the Leyda Valley region of Chile, a recently named area close to the ocean that’s producing some award-winning wines.

The nose has peach and citrus notes along with a hint of green chile (which is ironic, since the wine is from Chile).   On the palate, lots of tangy grapefuity citrus, with some melon and minerals in the background which make for an interesting swirl.  I drank the wine all by itself, but it could easily pair with a light salad or seafood.White Hot Chile trans

And don’t just take it from me, everyone seems to like this wine:   Its scored 91 points in Wine & Spirits Magazine and it got a  90 from Stephen Tanzer, Wine Spectator and Robert Parker.
