Friday night my wife once again decided she wanted to order some dinner delivered to the house, so she picked up the phone and called… me. Of course as always, I delivered and I didn’t get a tip either. This Friday night’s cuisine choice? Sushi, and we LOVE our sushi…

I called ahead to a spot on the way home called Crazy Sushi and ordered a plethora of sushi; salmon, albacore, yellowtail, white tuna and a couple of rolls. I figured by the time I got there the order would be ready, but traffic was lighter than usual and I got there before the order was done. I guess they felt bad that I had to wait around because they threw in some miso soup and an extra order of the white tuna sushi… Score!

Upon arrival home I discovered my wife waiting with chopsticks in hand, and while she unpacked the sushi, I uncorked a bottle of white I had in the fridge…

It was the 2005 Chateau de Rochemorin Blanc, from Pessac-Léognan. This wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. I immediately smelled aromas of limes and lemons, and in my mouth.. lots of citrus.. grapefruit… a little vanilla and a touch of mineral in the very back. A nice crisp, clean finish. The flavors of this wine danced with the sushi in my mouth. Fantastic! Oh, and Wine Spectator gave it a 90.

What a treat, a great bottle of wine and extra white tuna sushi. It doesn’t get much better than that.
