New Webisode/Weekday Wine Review: Haras De Pirque Character 01267l1

Yes, I found myself with another bottle of Chilean wine, but for a change it wasn’t a Sauvignon Blanc or a Carmenere but a Cabernet Sauvignon. So I pushed the red button on my camcorder and taped another weekday wine review. Still working on the aesthetics of ‘WineExpedition headquarters’ and getting some of the technical bugs worked out, but I’m excited to be bringing you these video wine reports much more often. Keep watching: they’re going to get better and more informative. And if you have some ideas for what wines I should be tasting, jump into our forum and let us know.

We’ve been hot on Chilean wine here at WE since day one, and when the folks at Wines of Chile conducted their live/interactive wine tasting last month, I was very excited to taste each and every one. We’ve had the Haras Sauvignon Blanc before, so I was particularly interested in their Cabernet.

Push play and check it out:   Weekday Wine Review:  Haras De Pirque.

Surprised you haven’t tasted or mentioned Escudo Rojo….an interesting red developed by the Baron Philippe Rothschild efforts in Chile’s Maipo region. Have you tasted it?

Haras De Pirque bottles are not the easiest to find, since they produce only about a 1,000 cases annually. Maybe I’ll see if I can visit their vineyard later this year, since you appear to have enjoyed the Cab your tasted.

Yes, it was a tasty wine indeed. I’m told the propery is beautiful- a horseshoe shaped winery on a hillside. I would love to visit myself someday.

Meanwhile, I have not tried the Escudo Rojo, but on your suggestion I will pick up a bottle in the next couple of weeks and review it!
