Washington Cab, Fireside.

…I was dropping something off at my friend Fernie’s place and shockingly enough, he had a bottle open and asked if I’d like to join him in a glass… (sometimes my life feels like the movie Groundhog Day).
He poured me a glass of the 2005 Chateau St. Michelle Indian Wells Cabernet Sauvignon. Chateau St. Michelle is one of Washington state’s biggest producers and their Indian Wells series is a line of ‘reserve’ wines that get their share of accolades. This one is no exception, having scored a 91 from Wine and Spirits.
The house was warm with the fireplace blazing and my glass was filled with a nice warm dark fruit aroma that led into a mouthful of blackberry, vanilla and a hint of cocoa. A lingering finish kept me busy until the next mouthful.
Just as I was getting comfy by the fire, my wife called out; it was time to head home. No second glass this night…
