Quick Review: A Fine Aussie Red willowbend bottle 105x300

Another Monday night, another quest for a $12 dollar deal; this one wound up being from the land down under…

The 2003 Dutschke “Willow Bend Red” was on sale for $10.99 – not bad for a wine that received an 88 from Wine Spectator.  It’s a blend of Merlot (43%), Shiraz (35%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (22%).  It had bright red fruit on the nose, and that leads to equally bright cherry flavors on the palette and a tad of spice (from the Syrah methinks).  That 22% cab gives it a little taste o’ leather and some silky tannins at the end.  All in all, a nice fresh red for a Monday eve…
