I Had A Glass Of F’in Merlot

Sometimes I’m just crazy like that. We were sitting down for dinner at a nice spot, and while I wasn’t crazy hungry, I knew I was going to have some appetizers. I had to wash them down with something, and I was in the mood for red, even though I coulda had white with my heirloom tomatoes and burrata cheese…

The by-the-glass wine that I chose was the 2005 Rombauer Carneros Merlot, (which is actually 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet). The nose hit me the second the glass hit the table- big aromas of spicy plum. The palate followed with layers of plum, berries and cherry, with softer layers of chocolate and spices and a dash of herbs. A nice finish with a little bit o’ tannins.

You can’t go wrong with Rombauer by the glass or by the bottle. Good f’in Merlot.
