A Little Bit O’ The Pacific Northwest For Twelve Bucks.

A quick review for a Monday morning; there was a lot of wine this weekend. Just trying to get my wits about me and start the week off. But before I roll up my sleeves and jump in head first, I wanted to let you know about a little bottle of wine from Washington that made it into my glass last week.
I love Washington as a wine region; like Chile, it’s a largely not-thought-of wine region with a lot of good little wines, and like Chile they are aggressive about pricing their wines; they want to get some market share.
Hogue Cellars is well known Washington winery, and the bottle I had was the 2003 Genesis Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a pleasant berry-filled nose and a palate that’s bright and fruity with some cherry and raspberry, a strong spicy backbone and a fair dusting of oak. And for $12, it’s hard to go wrong.
