Wine News: 2008 Napa-Elegant Vintage/Burgundy Wine Prices Fall

A couple of wine news blurbs for a Friday afternoon….Despite a ‘crazy weather year’ that included early frost damage and a cooler than normal summer interspersed with heat spikes, 2008 is looking to be a good vintage for Napa. The Napa Valley Vitners (NVV) was quoted as saying the vintage would feature ‘well-structured, concentrated, elegant wines’.
Across the Atlantic, in Beaune, France, the prices for French Burgundy wines fell at a local charity auction overseen by auction house Christies.
Experts said hail storms that struck the eastern French region during the summer were to blame, along with concerns over the international economy. The fluctuating currency market certainly didn’t help.

Yes the Napa Valley wines are some of the best and probably quite expensive especially in the UK. Although the Napa valley wines are know for their well made structure everyone is turning their attention to the possibilities of producing wine in India. Lets see what happens..
