Don’t Stand So Close To My Wine.

That’s right, Sting- the guy who gave us “Roxanne” as the front-man for The Police, and “If you Love Somebody Set Them Free” as a solo artist, has announced that he will be releasing a 2007 vintage from his Tuscan estate in both the US and UK.
According to this article straight from the BBC NEWS, Sting, whose real name is Gordan Sumner, has owned the Tuscan estate in 1997 and the planned release will be 30,000 bottles of a Sangiovese based with a pinch of Cabernet and Merlot.
“The organic farm also produces honey, olive oil, fruit, vegetables and Tuscan salami. The wine, along with other products, will also be available at a shop on the property.”
I’m curious to see how Sting does with wine, but I’ll tell you this much, I saw The Police last year at the Hollywood Bowl and it brought tears to my eyes. It brought back my high school years all over again. And if memory serves, we drank a lot of wine at the bowl that night. Shocking, I know…
Sting is one of many celebrities who either have their own wine labels or are heavily involved in the business. Another is professional golfer Greg Norman who has become very heavily involved in the business. Thanks for this interesting post.
