Chine Wine Part Deux.

Earlier in the year, I blogged a little news piece about the growing wine industry in China. Well now we have a new development hot off of the news desk…
Esteemed French wine producer Château Lafite is looking for partners to invest in the Penglai region, on China’s Shandong Peninsula, where 41,000 hectares of vines are growing. The region is often referred to as “China’s Bordeaux”. which makes sense as it’s at roughly the same latitude as Bordeaux.

Archaeologists have found traces of wine in China that date back thousands of years, but until recent times, they haven’t been a mass producer. Looking forward, they’re positioned to become one of the world’s biggest wine producing regions. According to the article at the Guardian, “The Rothschild family which owns Château Lafite said the Chinese peninsula was “promising” and its vineyards should produce a great wine”.
