Thanksgiving Wine Review: 2006 Soter North Valley Pinot Noir soternorth 228x300

Yes, after much debate, I decided to go with the 2006 Soter North Valley Pinot Noir. It was a perfect Thanksgiving wine.

This lovely pinot hails from Oregon’s Willamette Valley, and Etude founder Tony Soter. Soter takes fruit from a handful of sources in the North Willamette Valley, including Soter’s own Mineral Springs and Beacon Hill vineyards to craft this wine.

Wine Advocate says “it exhibits a refined bouquet of black cherry, black raspberry, spice and earth notes. Supple, ripe, and plush, the wine offers savory flavors, good depth, and a smooth finish.” Score: 91.

My thoughts: The wine is silky and balanced; flavors of cherries and raspberries and worked perfectly with the butterball turkey on mom’s dining room table. After the meal was done, I enjoyed one last glass before calling it a very successful and satisfying Thanksgiving.

I hope everyone had a great holiday, and again, feel free to comment about your meal and wine selection.

Looks great! I’m going to pick this one up. Willamette has their most well known tasting the day after Thanksgiving! I’d kill to be there now!
